Travel Tips for Summer Vacations
Summer is an exciting time – the kids are out of school, the weather is nice, and we feel inspired to let loose and have some fun. Many of us like to spend the summer making travel plans and going to exciting places with friends and family. While the idea of traveling somewhere new can be exciting, it can also be a stressful endeavor. Whether you’re traveling by car, plane, bus, or train, here are some tips to keep stress at bay while traveling for vacation.
Plan ahead. The more time you allow yourself to plan your trip, the better. Book a hotel well in advance and sort out your transportation with plenty of time to spare. Once plans are set, create an itinerary and print one out to keep with you at all times.
Make a list. Write down a list of everything you will need while traveling and while on vacation. If you’re heading abroad, ensure that you know the requirements to enter the country, if there are any. Don’t forget medications, IDs, passports, tickets, itineraries, maps, cash, insurance information, and credit cards.
Eat well. No one said eating healthy and traveling is a walk in the park. Grabbing a burger at the airport may seem quick and easy, but it’s not going to leave you feeling very good. Pack plenty of healthy snacks so that you don’t have to rely on unhealthy airport and gas station food. Be sure to keep sipping on water too, as the air conditioning in airports and vehicles can leave you feeling dehydrated.
Know your location. Find out the customs in the foreign city that you’ll be visiting. A simple Google search can be the difference between making friends and offending the locals.
Protect your belongings. Ensure that your home, auto, and business have the protection they need before you go away on vacation.
